IT Security and Network Services Sales Engineer

Position
As a sales engineer, this position will provide proactive
technical support and pre-sales assistance to the sales and
marketing team, as well as consulting services for a variety of
information security and networking products and services.
Offering support for intensive managed security, networking, and
hosting solutions through both direct and indirect contact with
prospects and clients is required. The Sales Engineer will
understand and present the CentraComm value proposition and
technical service offerings. The ability to perform the
discovery necessary to learn the details of a customer environment
and provide a strategic direction based on those findings is
crucial to the continued growth of the company and its strong
presence within the industry. An energetic yet professional
image is expected as well as the ability to provide alternative
suggestions when faced with adversity no matter the risk.
Position reports to CIO.
Specific Responsibilities include:
- Be a technology enthusiast while conveying the core products
and services of the company. Become the most valuable resource for
the client / customer by developing rapport and relationships with
clients at all levels, creating a personal network within the
client base.
- Act as a technical liaison between CentraComm's customers,
sales staff and our Network and Security Operations engineers
- Point of contact for pre-sales technical issues and
provide timely resolution to these issues (phone, email and in
person)
- Work with clients to solve complex security problems by
leveraging cutting edge networking and security technologies.
- Deliver technical overviews and presentations to clients.
- Deliver Visio diagrams of proposed solutions and lead white
boarding discussions with clients
- Assist Account Managers in achieving regional sales
quotas.
- Set up new managed networking and security customers
- Set up new connectivity customers throughout CentraComm's
networking infrastructure
- Provide higher level consulting support to mission-critical
networks acting as a point of escalation
- Provide leadership by aiding in product research, testing, and
evaluation
- Provide technical expertise, training and support to sales and
marketing team. Act as a technical mentor for clients and
Account Managers
- Documentation of all new customer systems implementation
and initial information for billing purposes
- Able to fulfill 24x7 support and escalation duties
- Other duties as assigned

- Provide pre-sales engineering support crucial to the continued
growth of the company and its presence within the industry.
- Build strong working relationships with clients, partners,
sales, and marketing team to assist with the best solutions,
network diagramming and quote/proposals to the client
- Maintain current leading edge in related technology knowledge
through continued product research and training
- Strive to be the best at what you do. Maintain a strong
focus on pre-sales customer service which is an integral part of
our brand and culture
- Able to recognize new opportunities and potential new products
and services based on client interactions
Qualifications
The individual will have at least 5 years experience, including
responsibility for pre-sales technical consulting or solution
design, implementation, management, and troubleshooting of IP
networking and information security infrastructure. This
experience should include a working knowledge of all the components
of complex security, network, and hosting environments.
Technical understanding of items such as routers, switches,
firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection and prevention, load
balancers, web and database servers, etc. is also needed.
- Demonstrated abilities in network and security architecture
and/or deploying network and security related technologies in a
complex environment.
- Experience integrating technologies such as firewalls, IPS,
ILP, SSL/IPSEC VPNs, SIEMs and DNS.
- Strong knowledge of assessment and compliance a plus.
- Must be versed in Juniper, Cisco, Microsoft, and Linux based
environments
- Familiarity with server hardware and relevant infrastructure a
plus
- Ability and desire to learn new skills quickly and adapt to
change
- Consultant savvy. Excellent verbal and written
communication skills with ability to communicate technology in
simple terms to Account Managers and clients.
- Technical writing skills to develop detailed SOW's and RFI
responses.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with partners,
clients and Account Managers.
- Solid organizational and time management skills
- Willing to provide help on critical issues in 24x7 work
environment.
- Able to accept and give constructive criticism
- Ability to travel - with the majority being day trips in the
OH, MI, Western PA area
- Valid US drivers license
- Knowledge of cryptology and security compliance process and
procedures a plus
Vendor Specific Certifications preferred:
- Juniper Networks, All Product lines - JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIP,
JNCIE
- Cisco, Networking and Security Product lines - CCNA, CCNP,
CCIE
- Microsoft - MCP, MSCE
- CISSP, CEH, Other security certifications a plus
Position can be based in the following DMA's Columbus, Toledo,
Cleveland, and Sandusky.
