CentraComm is pleased to announce that Dr. Loren Wagner is now credentialed as a Registered Practitioner with the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Accreditation Body, which is a top professional designation within the cybersecurity industry.
The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) created the CMMC Accreditation Body, a non-profit, independent organization, to accredit Third Party Assessment Organizations and individual assessors. The CMMC Accreditation Body awarded the Registered Practitioner designation to Dr. Wagner for demonstrating the highest level of competency by completing the required training program. There are currently approximately 1,000 CMMC Registered Practitioners across the U.S.
Dr. Wagner and CentraComm are now listed in the CMMC Marketplace as a resource to assist in gaining this certification for companies that are a part of the Department of Defense (DoD) supply chain. As a Registered Practitioner, Dr. Wagner is qualified to perform cybersecurity gap analysis and risk assessments for companies required to comply with DoD and CMMC cybersecurity mandates. “Our company is gratified for Dr. Wagner to receive the Registered Practitioner designation,” says Lynn Child, CentraComm President. “This designation provides assurance to our customers that we are a trusted partner that they can rely on for IT cybersecurity compliance.”
With the CMMC model, companies can no longer provide self-assessments as evidence of compliance. Firms such as CentraComm perform advisory services including third-party assessments to ensure full DoD and CMMC compliance. The certification is applicable to both prime contractors who engage directly with DoD and to subcontractors who contract with primes to provide fulfillment and execution of those contracts. The DoD and prime contractors have begun incorporating CMMC requirements into their solicitations for defense contracts, and it is expected that CMMC will be a requirement of all new DoD requests for proposals beginning in 2025. Businesses that are not in compliance risk losing defense contracts and the ability to participate in new contract awards or renew existing contracts. The CMMC is expected to roll out to other federal agencies, with the next being the Department of Homeland Security.

About Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification
Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) is a program initiated by the United States Department of Defense (DoD) to measure their defense contractors’ capabilities, readiness, and sophistication in the area of cybersecurity. The primary goal of the certification is to improve the surety and security of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and Federal Contract Information (FCI) that is in the possession and use of their federal contractors.
